The second scholarship honouring the late Al Mullin – the former Vice-President of the New Brunswick Union (NBU) – was recently awarded to Sydney Murray.
Al’s family – his wife Leanne and children Morgan and Kyle – established the Aloysius Mullin Scholarship with the criteria the recipient must be the child of a member of the NBU in good standing. The scholarship was also for a student from the area where Al grew up and attended school.
Murray graduated from North and South Esk Regional High School in Sunny Corner, NB and is set to attend St. Francis Xavier University in the Fall.
She is the daughter of NBU member Peter Murray.
The NBU has also established a scholarship in Al’s memory which will awarded for the first time this Fall.
“Leanne and her children did a wonderful thing in establishing the scholarship in Al’s name,” said NBU President Susie Proulx-Daigle. “Al valued education and spent so much time helping train NBU members.
“Sydney is a very deserving recipient, and we wish her continued success as she moves forward in her academic career.”
