Midterm Conference a success

The New Brunswick Union hosted its first Midterm Conference from June 2-4 in Fredericton with great success.
The three days were packed with tremendous presentations from Dr. Brian Goldman, Olympian Heather Moyse, Dr. Matthew Hayes, Canadian Labour Congress Executive Vice-President Siobhán Vipond, National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) President Larry Brown and NUPGE Secretary Treasurer Bert Blundon.
In addition to the guest speakers, staff members IT Officer Henry MacAulay, Executive Director Leigh Sprague and Coordinating Labour Relations Officers Chris MacLellan and Joyce Aucoin also presented to the group.
The event was capped off with a performance from comedian James Mullinger.
In addition to the speakers, members discussed where improvements can be made in bargaining as well as coming up with resolutions for the triennial convention.
President of the NBU Susie Proulx-Daigle hosted the three-day event and was excited with the results.
“The members were really engaged throughout the event and provided us with some great ideas and feedback,” she said. “A union is only as strong as its members and this weekend solidified just how strong we are and what a force for change we can be in this province.”
