Looking Forward to 2012
Susie Proulx-Daigle, President
With the eventful 2011 in the past, I invite you to look forward to 2012 with me, with renewed enthusiasm and confidence that we will collectively play an important role with constructive impact on our working relationships and our communities.
The forecast for the year is clear. We must endeavor to continue to be pro-active and strategic as many very challenging issues loom on the horizon such as the state of the economy in our province and the financial situation of our Government. Both of these will undoubtedly require courage and foresight to deal with. We know that the Government had established two significant exercises in 2011; Government Renewal and the Task Force investigating the Sustainability of Public Sector Pension Plans.

Please Log In to your Member’s Section of our N.B. Union website. The first time you go to Log In you must click "Create Account" (bottom button in that box). You will see a form which asks for some basic contact information … please fill this out and click the OK button. The Member Log-in will become a major method of communication with our 26 Bargaining Units on information specific just to them. Our research demonstrated the best way to reach members was either by phone or by website. All other methods (other than regular mail) proved to be only partially successful. For example we are unable to send group emails to any @gnb.ca, @snb.ca. @horizonnb.ca or @vitalitenb.ca addresses. Please let us know your preferred email address which is not work-related! As well, the contact information we have on our membership is sometimes inconsistent and/or incomplete. The one-time form at the first Log-In will allow us to update our membership database. By Thomas Mann The Government of New Brunswick has mandated Health Minister Dubé to explore ways to make generic prescription drugs more affordable and accessible for New Brunswick families. With the costs of prescriptions drugs escalating at a rate of 10% annually, there is indeed cause for concern for all the citizens of New Brunswick, not just the provincial government. Every one of us faces the same hardship from the high cost of prescription drugs.
